**UPDATES**

 

Abduction | Strangulation *ARREST – On August 1st, officers located and arrested the suspect involved in the assault which was reported to have occurred in the 14600 block of Potomac Mills Rd in Woodbridge on July 9th. The accused was located in a wooded area behind the Potomac Festival Shopping Center and was arrested without incident.

Arrested on August 1st:

Tyreek Jason CLARK, 30, of no fixed address

Charged with abduction, strangulation, assault & battery, preventing the summoning of law enforcement and destruction of property

Abduction | Strangulation [Previously Released] – On July 9th at 4:03AM, officers responded to the 14600 block of Potomac Mills Rd in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 30 year old woman of no fixed address, reported to police that she and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a physical altercation. During the encounter, the accused choked the victim and prevented her from leaving to get help. The victim took her phone and attempted to contact police, at which point, the accused took the phone and broke it. The accused fled prior to police arriving in the area. Minor injuries were reported.

 

**INCIDENTS**

 

Burglary to a School | Grand Larceny – On July 31st at 7:46AM, officers responded to Lake Ridge Elementary School located at 11970 Hedges Run Dr in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a burglary. Staff reported to police that the burglary occurred between 4:30PM on July 30th and 5:15AM on July 31st. The investigation revealed that entry was made into the school through a temporary plywood door to the building due to ongoing construction. No property was missing from the interior of the school. A construction trailer located on the property was also entered after the padlock was broken and removed. Copper tubing, total value around $1,250, was reported missing from the trailer.

 

Burglary to a School | Destruction of Property – On July 30th at 10:31PM, officers responded to River Oaks Elementary School located at 16950 McGuffey’s Trail in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a burglary. Staff reported to police that the burglary occurred between 4:30PM and 10:30PM. The investigation revealed that three windows to the school were discovered broken. The suspect(s) then made entry into the school and moved several items. A water hose was also placed inside one of the windows and turned on causing an unknown amount of damage. A police K-9 was used to search the interior of the school building. No suspects were located and no property was reported missing. Damage to the windows was estimated around $1,200.

 

Attempted Residential Burglary – On July 31st at 10:12AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 12300 block of New Castle Lp in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate an attempted burglary. The homeowner reported to police that between 1:50AM and 9:00AM, entry was attempted into the residence through a basement level window. The investigation revealed that the screen to the window ripped and lawn furniture around the window was moved. No entry was made into the home and no property was reported missing.

 

**ARRESTS**

 

Missing Child | Abduction – On July 31st at 5:49PM, officers responded to investigate a missing child who was last known to be in the custody of a family member in the 4300 block of Evergreen Dr in Woodbridge (22193). The investigation revealed that the victim, identified as Caleb Brock age 8, was in the custody of the accused, his grandmother identified as Brenda COUNTS. The reporting party informed police that the accused was granted custody of the victim; however, failed to return him upon being informed to do so. The residence of the accused located in the above area was checked by police but neither the accused nor the victim were located. Information was received that the accused may have taken the victim to another family member’s residence located in Alta Vista, VA and that they were believed to be driving a newer model, dark colored Subaru Outback station wagon with unknown tags owned by an acquaintance of the accused. During the course of the investigation, the reporting party obtained a warrant against the accused relating to this incident. Around 2:30AM on August 1st, a tip was received that informed officers of the whereabouts of the accused. Both the accused and the victim were located at a residence in the 3500 block of Buffalo Ct. The accused was taken into custody without incident and the victim was reunited with his guardian unharmed. At no time during the investigation was it believed that the victim was in immediate danger of bodily harm or death which is a requirement for Amber Alert activation. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Charged with 1 count of abduction
