Daily Incident Report for Friday, August 8, 2014

**UPDATE**

Grand Larceny | Brandishing *ARREST – On August 7th at 11:44AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 15000 block of Ashdale Cir in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a brandishing. Officers arrived and determined that this incident was in retaliation for the robbery which occurred the night prior in the 3900 block of Penshurst Ln in Woodbridge [see release below]. The investigation revealed the victim of the robbery the night before, identified as Tyler JONES, went to the home of one of the suspects, Corey SELLERS, on Ashdale Cir to confront him over the incident. Tyler JONES was accompanied by another acquaintance, identified as Landon JONES, during this altercation. During the encounter, both men reportedly brandished a firearm at Corey SELLERS. Another resident of the home contacted police and both suspects fled the area prior to police arriving at the home. Officers eventually located the suspects a short time later and detained both of them without further incident. Upon further investigation into the alleged robbery the night before, detectives from the Robbery Unit determined that Corey SELLERS and another man, identified as Christopher PETERSON, arranged to have Tyler JONES purchase marijuana on their behalf and gave him money to do so. Tyler JONES then reported back to the men that he was robbed of the money they give him. At that point, an altercation ensued which was reported in the release below. The Ashdale Cir encounter on August 7th was determined to be retaliation against that incident. Following the investigation, all parties were arrested and charged in connection to their involvement in the incidents.

Armed Robbery | Malicious Wounding [Previously Released] – On August 6th at 9:16PM, officers responded to the 3900 block of Penshurst Ln in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 22 year old man of Dumfries, reported to police that two known male acquaintances confronted him in the above area over a previous encounter. A verbal altercation ensued which escalated between the three men. During the struggle, one of the suspects struck the victim with a handgun causing the firearm to discharge. The suspects fled prior to officers arriving in the area. Before fleeing, the suspects took a firearm belonging to the victim. No injuries or property damage were reported as a result of the gunshot. The victim did sustained non-life threatening injuries from the physical altercation. This incident was not random.

**INCIDENTS**

Attempted Armed Robbery | Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On August 8th at 2:47AM, officers responded to the 18100 block of Kilmer Ln in Triangle (22172) to investigate an attempted robbery. The victim, a 29 year old man of Triangle, reported to police that he and a known acquaintance were walking back to their residence, located in the above area, when they were approached from behind by an unknown man. The man immediately fired a gunshot which startled both parties. The suspect then proceeded to search the victim’s pockets before fleeing on foot. No property was taken and no injuries or property damage were reported. A police K-9 was used to search for the suspect.

Suspect Description:

Black male, between 18 & 25 years of age, 5’10”, 160lbs with a thin build and medium complexion

Last seen wearing black sweatpants, black sweatshirt, red shoes and a black stocking cap

Residential Burglary – On August 6th at 12:05PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 12900 block of Augustus Ct in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a burglary. The homeowner reported to police that the accused came to his residence looking for another family member who resides at the home. The homeowner informed the accused that the person she was looking for was not at the residence. At that point, the accused forced her way into the home and assaulted the homeowner. During the encounter, the accused pushed the homeowner into a wall, causing damage. Another resident of the home attempted to separate the two parties, while another resident contacted police. The accused fled the area prior to officers arriving at the home. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, officers obtained warrants against the accused.

Described as black female, 5’10”, 154lbs with a medium build, light complexion, black shoulder length dreadlocks and brown eyes

Wanted for burglary, assault & battery and destruction of property

**ARRESTS**

Cruelty or Injuries to Children – On August 7th at 6:49PM, police responded to the Wal-Mart located at 14000 Worth Ave in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a child neglect call. The caller reported to police that they had located two children that were unsupervised in a vehicle parked in the parking lot. Officers arrived and located the vehicle and the children, identified as an 8 year old boy and a 3 year old girl. The investigation revealed that the children were in the vehicle unsupervised for approximately 40 minutes before a guardian, identified as the accused, exited the store and approached officers. Both children were unharmed. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Charged with 2 counts of cruelty or injuries to children

Narcotics Investigation – On August 7th, detectives from the Street Crimes Unit concluded a narcotics investigation involving the distribution of marijuana with the execution of a search warrant at 14757 Dyer Ct in Woodbridge (22193). As a result of the search, marijuana, cocaine, handguns, evidence of distribution and an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency were recovered. The following arrests were also made without incident.
