Daily Incident Report for Wednesday, August 13, 2014

**INCIDENTS** 

 

Strong Armed Robbery – On August 13th at 1:58AM, officers responded to the area of Mapledale Ave and Miles Ct in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 24 year old man of Woodbridge, reported to police that he was walking in the above area when he was approached by an unknown man who asked to use the victim’s phone. During the encounter, another suspect approached and assaulted the victim. The men then took the victim’s wallet, cell phone and other property before fleeing the area on foot. Minor injuries were reported. A police K-9 was used to search for the suspects.

Suspect Descriptions:

Black male, between 20 & 29 years of age, 6’0”, 170lbs with a medium build

Last seen wearing blue boxer shorts and no shirt

 

Black male, between 20 & 29 years of age, 5’9”, 150lbs with a medium build

Last seen wearing a blue jeans and no shirt

 

Vandalism | Destruction of Property – On August 12th at 2:11PM, officers responded to the Manassas Mosque located at 12950 Center Entrance Dr in Manassas (20109) to investigate a reported vandalism. Staff reported to police that the vandalism was initially discovered by a security guard conducting a check of the area. The vandalism is believed to have occurred sometime between 11:30PM on August 11th and 4:45AM on August 12th. The investigation into the incident revealed that during that time an unknown person(s) spray painted exterior walls, windows and doors of the building using orange spray paint. In addition to the spray paint, an outer glass pane on a rear side door was also found damaged. No entry was made into the building and no suspects were seen during the encounter. After reviewing the damage, no identifiable markings or words were discovered with the exception of one obscenity. At this time, it is not evident that the vandalism was a hate crime; however, any vandalism reported at a religious institution is carefully investigated to determine the criminal intent of the suspect(s). There are no suspects at this time and the investigation continues.

 

Attempted Residential Burglary – On August 12th at 6:30PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 11500 block of Overleigh Dr in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate an attempted burglary. The homeowner reported to police that between 8:00AM and 11:30AM, someone attempted to enter the residence through an unsecured rear window. No entry is believed to have been made into the residence and no property was reported missing.

 

**ARRESTS**

 

Malicious Wounding | Domestic Assault & Battery – On August 12th at 10:11PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 4500 block of Logmill Rd in Gainesville (20155) to investigate a stabbing. The victim, a 31 year old woman of Gainesville, reported to police that she and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused assaulted the victim and, at one point, retrieved a kitchen knife. Another resident of the home, a 36 year old man of Gainesville, attempted to intervene and was stabbed in the arm by the accused. The male victim ran to a neighbor’s residence where he contacted police. The accused fled the home prior to officers arriving in the area. A police K-9 was used to search for the accused and was successful in locating her in a wooded area behind the home. Once encountered by officers, the accused refused to comply with commands and was bitten by the police K-9. The accused was eventually detained without further incident. Both victims and the accused sustained minor injuries and were transported to an area hospital for treatment. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.
